BERMANO Artist Statement
“Many people love my art and collect it, but if it is not to your taste, collect it now all the same. Think of Basquiat or Van Gogh—once overlooked, now priceless. This is the divine prophecy I carry: one day you will tell your children and grandchildren that you were the one who recognized the beautiful, unique style of Bermano.”
THE ARTIST & THE VISION
Once a boxing promoter in Las Vegas and a maker of beef jerky, today Bermano is vegan, visionary, and wholly devoted to his art. His conviction is absolute: he will be remembered as one of the greatest artists who ever lived, and he paints with that sense of destiny in every stroke. Born Joel Berman in South Africa, his journey is one of purpose and transformation. Rechristened Bermano, he carries a name destined to live alongside the immortals—Picasso, Van Gogh, Michelangelo, and Miró. His belief in greatness is not arrogance but a divine calling that fuels his relentless creativity.
FROM SUBWAY FLOORS TO GLOBAL STAGES
Bermano’s path has been anything but ordinary. In 2010, with no prior training, he picked up a paintbrush in Dallas. His raw emotional canvases resonated instantly with collectors—but success brought collapse, forcing him to rebuild his spirit in South Africa before returning to the U.S. In New York City, he lived eight months in a Bowery hostel under a sign reading “NO SPITTING.” He painted on subway floors, selling pieces for $10–$20. Over 500 strangers joined him, many later sharing that the experience gave them a reason to keep living.
THE ARTIST OF IMPACT
From those humble beginnings, Bermano’s work has reached international acclaim. His art has raised over $350,000 for charities such as Operation Smile, and he has painted for Nelson Mandela and Pope Francis.
DIAMONDS, DREAMS & LEGACY
Bermano often fuses luxury into his art, embedding real GIA-certified diamonds and gemstones into his canvases—transforming them into spiritual talismans and investment-grade collectibles. His recent success at the Dubai International Jewelry Show showcased these radiant works, blending art, soul, and timeless brilliance.
A SPIRIT SET FREE
“My greatest joy in painting is freedom—I’m never confined to a single subject or style. I paint what I feel: the raw power of lions, the beauty of flowers, the majesty of wildlife. Sometimes whimsical, always bold.” With impasto strokes so vibrant they seem to invent new colors, Bermano’s art radiates energy, passion, and the boundless joy of creation.
